Professional Summary

Platform engineering has always been about one thing: making the path to production reliable enough that teams stop thinking about it. Over 10 years that meant paved-road CI/CD, zero-downtime migrations, Kubernetes platforms for financial and e-commerce systems, and observability stacks that surface problems before they become incidents. AI agent workloads have the same failure modes as distributed systems: unpredictable behavior, cost spikes, silent failures. I'm applying the same instrumentation and reliability discipline to them.

Enterprise Solutions Architect

September 2024 - Present [1 yr 8 mos]
Amazon Web Services | Denver, CO
  • Industrial IoT & Observability (ProveIT): Built a prototype for manufacturing environments that ingested MQTT data streams via a Unified Namespace (UNS) architecture, categorized and standardized stream contents into a time-series database, and integrated an Agentic AI layer using AgentCore and Bedrock for anomaly detection. Delivered persona-specific dashboards (OEE, equipment state) and natural-language querying of production line status.
  • Customer Support Automation (Amazon Connect): Identified an operational gap for a global manufacturer and built a working prototype demonstrating multi-threaded conversation support and extended customer support hours. Personally engineered a secure SMS image-upload integration to showcase the platform's extensibility for visual troubleshooting workflows.
  • Enterprise Infrastructure & Migration (SAP Integration): Guided a global manufacturer through architecting secure AWS infrastructure for a Document Management System integrated with SAP ERP. Established best practices for infrastructure as code, private VPC architecture with VPC endpoints, and S3 gateway patterns for scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency at scale. Led architectural discovery to establish migration roadmaps for broader legacy-to-cloud transitions.
  • AI Agent Observability (Stallion): Built a local-first AI agent platform and instrumented it with OpenTelemetry plus Prometheus/Grafana to trace agent behavior, surface cost and reliability signals, and make tool-driven workflows debuggable.
  • Agentic Developer Tooling (Kiro): Among the top 70 most active users out of 280k+ internal Kiro CLI users. Built agent workflows for Kiro that standardized ideation-to-verification loops and used promptfoo-based evals to harden prompts and improve reliability before release.

Technical Director

March 2024 - September 2024 [7 mos]
Valtech | Kin + Carta | Denver, CO
  • Zero-Downtime Migration: Orchestrated migration of 14 mission-critical Java SpringBoot credit card applications from legacy Websphere and Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) to OpenShift (OCP on AWS), maintaining 100% availability throughout the transition.
  • CI/CD Transformation: Implemented trunk-based CI/CD and TDD mandates, reducing deployment cycles from monthly releases to multiple on-demand daily deployments while maintaining strict financial sector change management compliance with ServiceNow and LeanIX.
  • Observability Enablement: Standardized enterprise-wide integration patterns using Helm Charts, enabling consistency in application deployments and seamless adoption of Datadog and Instana for managing SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets across multiple delivery teams for unified production monitoring.

Senior Technical Principal

February 2020 - March 2024 [4 yrs 2 mos]
Kin + Carta | Denver, CO
  • CI/CD & Platform Engineering (Discover Financial): Led the integration layer for the Trident pipeline, a standardized CI/CD framework spanning 5,000+ applications. Defined Golden Paths and integration playbooks for production adoption, identified gaps in monitoring and observability, implemented AWS integration via Kubernetes Operators, and established deployment strategies (canary, blue/green). Resulted in a 90% reduction in deployment lead time.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Gordon Food Service): Developed a comprehensive library of shared Terraform Modules and Liquibase patterns to centralize product provisioning, ensuring infrastructure consistency, automated security compliance, budgetary guardrails, and CI/CD templates across GitLab, SonarCloud, NexusIQ, and Apigee to enable rapid, secure deployment cycles across all enterprise product teams.
  • Data Modernization (Gordon Food Service): Built ICDS (Integrated Consumption Data Store), normalizing fragmented data sources into a centralized BigQuery repository with Dataflow batch pipelines and a standardized API layer on GKE, eliminating duplicated data dependencies across consumer applications.

Technical Principal

January 2017 - February 2020 [3 yrs 2 mos]
Solstice | Kin + Carta | Denver, CO
  • GKE Platform Operations: Architected and operated a high-concurrency ordering platform on Google Kubernetes Engine, integrating Firestore, Pub/Sub, and Memorystore (Redis) to handle massive traffic spikes with sub-second latency.
  • Release Engineering: Achieved 8-9 production deployments per day via Spinnaker while scaling engineering team to 60+ developers.
  • Mobile CD Pipeline: Built a dual-platform continuous delivery pipeline using Fastlane, Jenkins, and Docker, integrating AWS Device Farm for automated testing across iOS and Android. Reduced release overhead for 6 production apps from 4 weeks to 1 week through pipeline automation.

Senior Technical Consultant

July 2015 - January 2017 [1 yr 7 mos]
Solstice | Kin + Carta | Chicago, IL
  • Enterprise Integration: Served as Solution Architect for native iOS and Android applications, designing complex backend integrations with ServiceNow and enterprise middleware systems.
  • Infrastructure Modernization: Led technical assessments for fleet management clients, performing architectural audits and delivering strategic roadmaps for legacy platform modernization.
  • R&D Innovation: Spearheaded R&D projects involving Raspberry Pi (Flask), IoT devices, and Amazon Echo to prototype next-generation experiential commerce platforms.

Technical Consultant

April 2014 - July 2015 [1 yr 4 mos]
Solstice | Chicago, IL
  • Product Delivery: Sole developer and architect for a premium Swift iOS application for an executive society. Separately, built an AngularJS e-commerce platform for a food distributor with automated deployment via Octopus Deploy, and architected reusable WebView components to share data visualization across native mobile platforms for a wealth management client.

Technical Analyst

June 2013 - April 2014 [11 mos]
Solstice Mobile | Chicago, IL
  • Feature Delivery: Shipped core mobile features for large financial services client in 4-week sprints, including Photo Check Deposit and Scheduled Payments, maintaining strict quality standards for production releases.
